Wicked Comics have just heard the shocking news that legendary comics creator the “Incredible” Herb Trimpe has passed away on Monday 13th April 2015 aged 75. It is with a heavy heart that we report this sad news. Our deepest sympathies and condolences go to his wife Patricia and his family during these difficult times.
As anyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing him can attest, Herb was an extraordinary man. A genuinely nice guy, extremely talented and one who loved life. A kind person who despite his many accomplishments in life always remained level headed and approachable. His passion for creating comics is well documented, but it was his infectionately pleasant personality and his hearty laugh that made him shine wherever he went.
We feel lucky and honoured to have had the pleasure of hosting him in Malta as a guest to the Malta Comic Con 2012. He was an examplary guest, and one who loved meeting and talking to fans. Simply put, he was special. We have nothing but fond memories of Herb, ones we’ll cherish forever.
“I say this with tears running down my eyes as I struggle to come to terms with this news, but it’s hard to think for Herb and not have a smile form at the corner of your mouth. He was the kind of person that brought joy to anyone he came in contact with. The first time I met him and his wife was at New York Comic Con 2012 and they started chatting to us with honest ease as if we’ve been best friends for ever. Barely anytime had passed since we met but they cordially invited us to their place. They are the warmest of people and there’s never a dull moment in their company. Something we confirmed during their visit to Malta and future encounters. His departure from this world is a sad day indeed and my prayers go to Patricia and the rest of his relatives” said Chris Le Galle co-founder of Wicked Comics.
There’s nothing more we can say except that Herb made the world a better place. May you rest in piece and though your body may be gone your legend lives on in your work and all the lives you touched.
