This Friday (29th June 2012) Wicked Comics the organisers of the annual Malta Comic Convention and promoters of the comic culture worldwide will be running a stand in the forthcoming Hagar Qim/Mnajdra Open Day which is being organised by the wicked folk at Heritage Malta.

Heritage Malta invites everyone to time travel to the prehistoric times and learn more about our extraordinary temples at Hagar Qim and Mnajdra. On the 29th June 2012 between 9am and 7pm, Heritage Malta through a number of curators, lectures and professionals will bring the temples back to life via a series of exciting, entertaining, educational and interactive activities. These include a variety of scheduled talks including two from Wicked Comics very own Samantha Abela and a series of guided tours held at scheduled intervals throughout the day. Activities will also include; experiments in preparing a Neolithic meal conducted by Martha Micallef Anastasi, as well as a hands-on explanation of how pottery was produced, presented by Rosella Schembri from Space for Clay. Modern technology will be used to help people understand what the homes of the temple builders may have looked like. Children will also be able to explore what people wore in prehistory and make their own accessories.

Wicked Comics will be running a stand selling a mixture of Maltese and foreign created comics, promoting the annual Malta Comic Convention and promoting comic culture as a whole. In addition to this Samantha Abela will be delivering two talks on Comics as an Instructional Tool in Education. During this activity Wicked Comics will also be handing children an instructional pack to help them create their own “Heritage Inspired Comic”. Some wicked Maltese comic creators will also be joining us doing live sketches and short comic strips connecting comics with our heritage.

After each comic convention Wicked Comics in collaboration with Heritage Malta take their esteemed foreign guests on a mini tour round interesting sites in Malta. One such tour included Hagar Qim and Mnajdra. To say that all guests were mystified with what they saw would be a massive understatement. They found these temples so impressive and inspirational that some of them actually included them in their comic strips and to this day they still talk to us with passion, fascination, and admiration on our Temples. The whole Wicked Comics crew cannot be prouder.

So make sure not to miss this opportunity and remember everybody is welcome at the Wicked Comics Stand. Should be fun for everyone!
