An icon of the civil rights movement is now on his way to one of the nation’s most prestigious literary prizes.
As the March trilogy celebrates six continuous weeks of holding the top 3 spots on theNew York Times Bestseller List, the National Book Awards have announced March: Book Three as one of ten nominees for the Young People’s Literature category!
Congratulations to Congressman John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell for this great honor.
March: Book Two recently received the Eisner Award for Best Reality-Based Work and two Harvey Awards, but this is the first award to feature March: Book Three, and the first National Book Award nomination for all three of the creators. In fact, John Lewis is the first sitting member of Congress to be nominated for the National Book Award since John F. Kennedy in 1957 for Profiles in Courage.
The current “longlist” of ten books will be narrowed to five finalists on October 13th, before the final award ceremony November 16th. We wish them the best of luck!
After this tumultuous election year, readers young & old will be looking for thoughtful gifts that are both informative and inspiring, presented in a thrilling and accessible format. Marchdoesn’t just narrate one of our country’s greatest stories — it makes that story unforgettable.
