Wicked Comics would like to announce the Last Wave of guests and the launch of the new publication “Wicked Ghost Stories of Malta” written by Fabio Agius and Chris le Galle. This publication is financed by the Malta Arts Council and Heritage Malta respectively. This anthology of Ghost Stories is being launched just a few days after Halloween and illustrates some of Malta’s most popular haunting tales of mysteries and ghost stories. Various local artists and foreign artists worked together to bring this publication to life. This publication will be available for sale for the first time during the Malta Comic Con weekend at the special price of 5 Euros. Visitors will be able to get the signatures of most of the artists contributing to this publication during the Malta Comic Con 2019. 

The last wave of guests are Lilliana Sorrentino (Italy), Nick Brokenshire (Scotland), Ron Marz (USA), Tasha (UK), Vasilis Dimopoulos (Greece), and Robin Recht (France).

Lilliana Sorrentino is known for giving the voice to Pollon in the anime C’era una volta…Pollon, Sayaka Yumi in Mazinga Z, Maria Fleed in Ufo robot Goldrake and Ritsuko Akagi in Neon Genesis Evangelion. She also gave the voice to Heather Locklear in the TV series Melrose Place and in movies like Looney Tunes: Back in Action and Le ragazze dei quartieri alti. When she was young, she was known for her high pitched voice recognizable in plenty of movies from the sixties like Mary Poppins, The Thrill of it all and The Sound of Music.

Nick Brokenshire is a comic book writer/artist for IDW’s STAR WARS ADVENTURES, including stories that feature IG-88 and MAX REBO. Nick is also co-creator/artist/colorist of THE ONCE AND FUTURE QUEEN (Dark Horse) and has worked on stories and covers for 2000AD, JUDGE DREDD (IDW) and ROBOTECH (Titan). This year he will finish drawing a 200 page graphic novel called ‘She’s Not There’ written by Ellis Bojar.

Ron Marz has been writing comics for more than two decades, starting his career with a lengthy run on Silver Surfer for Marvel. He has worked for virtually every major publisher and compiled a long list of credits, including stints on Thor for Marvel, Green Lantern and Superboy for DC, Star Wars for Dark Horse, and the historic Marvel vs. DC crossover. Among Marz’s more recent work is his acclaimed run on Witchblade for Top Cow/Image, the Skylanders series for IDW, Turok and John Carter: Warlord of Mars for Dynamite, and Fathom for Aspen.

Tasha has only been Cosplaying since 2012 but prior to that she was a massive gamer and into superheroes. When she discovered cosplay it was only natural to start making her own costumes, starting with Xena Warrior Princess for which she won 1st place at London Film and Comic Con. From then onwards she fell in love with cosplay and the whole scene. To date Tasha has been invited to judge cosplay at various events and conventions.

Vasilis has been self-publishing his comics and participating in comic festivals and exhibitions since 2014. He collaborated with the Greek comic magazine Mple Komitis, and illustrated a 6 page back up story, written by D.J. Kirkbride, for the 3rd issue of ERRAND BOYS published by Image comics. He is currently working on the 2nd issue of his self-published science-fiction/horror comic BARGAL.

Robin Recht designed his first comic book with Gregory Makles for Soleil – Le Dernier Rituel, and later with Gabriel Delmas, the very dark and romantic medieval series Totendom at Humanoïdes Associés. He also wrote the script for the adaptation of Victor Hugo‘s classic “Notre Dame de Paris” that was drawn by Jean Bastide. In 2017, he made a graphic shift by drawing ‘Désintégration – Journal d’un conseiller a Matignon’, a bitter political chronicle on the experience lived in ministerial cabinets by the co-author of the album, Matthew Angotti. He recently returned to fantasy with legendary character of Conan for the adaption of Robert E Howard’s “The Girl of the Giant of the Freeze”.

Local Artists will also be part of the MCC’s artists’ gallery. As usual, there will be a mix of both new and old faces.  Returning again are – Roderick Pace with various new digital prints, Shawn Cauchi, showcasing both traditional and digital artwork, Maltese illustrator and character designer Steffi Venturi, Suus de Kock, an illustrator, writer, and history enthusiast, Vincienne Scerri, exhibiting a mixture of fan art, original work, handmade resin charms and jewelry and embroidery patches and Violeta Toncheva who will once again showcase her mix of traditional artworks and digital designs.

Returning this year is Raymond Dominic Agius who specializes in Portraiture, Figurative, Historic, Marine and Aviation subjects. A newcomer this year is Rachel Mifsud who produces realistic and semi-cartoonish portraits.

The 11th edition of the Malta Comic Con 2019 is held on Saturday 2nd (10am-6pm) and Sunday 3rd (11am-7pm) November at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre Ta’ Qali.
