Hello everyone!

While I was at this years ‘Ennis Comic Mart’ sitting at our table, thinking to myself “I won’t be buying any comics today” also having no intention what’s o’ever of buying any new Harley Quinn material because it has a tendency to disappoint, a friend came over with the new 52 Harley saying she looked like me! Of course that grabbed my attention being as vain and Harley mad as I am, so I bought the issue with a clenched jaw.

When I got home I put off reading the issue for a few days because I love Harley so much that I also fear reading a bad story (I know, it’s very sad and pathetic) anyway, I kept looking through it and found the art adorable and funny without reading any bubbles, That’s when I decided to read it finally.

It starts off with Harley driving a beautiful motorbike with all of her belongings on the back and her quirky Harley self, talking to a stuffed beaver that is strapped on to the front of the bike. Automatically it’s really funny! She sees some guy walking across the road while talking on his phone and he’s also walking his dog but he’s not paying any notice to the poor animal which is being dragged by its neck and looks in pain. Harley takes it upon herself to save the dog in a really funny way by dragging the guy around the main road by his neck with mental speed on her bike and sitting the dog on her tank. The story then takes a dark turn and Harley goes into psycho mode. The guy seriously pay’s for being a bad owner in such a sick way but it’s awesome!

The main plot of the new Harley Quinn instalment is that Harley is looking for a job now that The Joker doesn’t have any need for her anymore. She starts out by moving into an apartment complex in Coney Island where she becomes the land lady. She makes new friends which seem to be as messed up as her and want to do her bidding. In order to make money to keep up with payments on her new place she also joins a rollerblading sports game which pays if you run the opposing team into the ground, Harley takes that literally!

I didn’t expect much from the new 52 Harley Quinn but I have to admit this story seems super fun. Although I liked ‘The suicide Squad’ I wasn’t a huge fan, especially of Harley but DC seem to have found a nice balance of ‘classic Harley’ and ‘Suicide squad Harley’ in this storyline and I really like it! It reminded me of ‘The Gotham city sirens’ just a little.

This will be a book I’m going to wait on and collect in graphic novel form instead of issues but for those of you who can’t wait, issues 0-4 are available online and in book stores. The graphic novel will be out in May 2014.

Thanks for reading,
